I’m now a Pinterest-er
I have caved in, followed the crowd and signed up to Pinterest.
I remember seeing it a while back when it was first announced and had no interest in it at all. But lately my Twitter stream has been influenced by a lot of posts from Pinterest. So I decided to see what all the fuss was about.
You first have to request an invite to join, I didn’t have to wait long as I got my invite the following day. Once you sign up you have to select some categories of things you might like, such as: Art, fashion, geek, technology etc, then once you have made your selection, Pinterest automatically follows you to 10 strangers.
Now this is where I started to fall in love.
Normally when you join a new network, you have an empty timeline and have to being looking for friends or someone interesting to follow. The fact that Pinterest follows you to 10 people to begin with, shows that straight off the connections you make are not a personal thing that you might find on Facebook and even Twitter to some extent. Immediately your feed is full of rich content so you can dive in and start sharing.
So far the best way to describe it is that it’s like Tumblr without the blogging aspect. Just the exploring and sharing of videos and images.
I’m still new to it, I’m enjoying exploring it each day seeing what’s new and what’s popular (most notably this AT-AT Walker VW Camper crossover keeps popping up), So far I spend a lot of the time exploring the Geek category. I need to follow more people to add variety to my feed, any recommendations?
