Morning Parade Video Competition blog thing..

Talenthouse are holding a competition to create the video for Morning Parades new single - Headlights.

They supply you with logos, photos and live footage of the band which you can use for your own creation.

The live videos provided are of different songs, my first attempt was trying to resync the videos to match the single. After achieving about 30seconds of synced footage, I binned the idea.

I toyed with the images and videos in After Effects until an idea came to me. The idea I went with came from sampling the lights from this video: https://vimeo.com/35868264 positioning them into layers and creating a tunnel like effect.

With time running out to submit an entry, being only able to work in the evenings after work and also from joining the competition too late. I had to commit to the idea.

The video developed so that the tunnel and objects in the video reacted to audio elements within the track. E.g. the white balls appearing with each bass note and moving with accordance of the note changing.

I also worked the video so it could be used as live background visuals should the band desire to use them as such. This helped focus the visuals and base it on a live event by playing with colours as each new tunnel is entered, adding flashing lights, increasing the exposure and speed of the tunnel as the music intensifies.

All in all I’m pleased with the result (bar a few problems I shan’t mention due to time constraints and only noticing once the video was submitted)

Vote for me!

I’d really appreciate it if people could support my entry by voting. You can do it with either a Facebook or Twitter account. It seems to automatically send a post/tweet saying that you have voted, but feel free to delete that straight away. I always find auto-posts highly annoying.
